Not many elements of triathlon training are as feared and as important as the long run. The long run is important in that it builds Aerobic fitness, strength, confidence, and speed. Yes, speed. It is feared due to the soreness it creates and its perceived harshness. Not necessarily so. |

A tale of toe. While I was training for the Nike Women's Marathon I was carefully working on keeping all my toenails. I did not realize what a great undertaking this toenail-keeping business would be. Up until a few days ago I was happily wearing my cotton socks (don't you judge me!) and running my longest toe into a painful and unsightly condition. |

The off season, or the time after your races are finished and before you begin specific training for the next season, is a great time to relax, recuperate, and catch up on that list of tasks and hobbies you didn’t have the time to do while training. But it is also a great time to improve on your sport limiter. If you are a weaker runner than cyclist and swimmer, then some off season running tips outlined here will help you increase your run fitness. |
