Rock N Roll Marathon Race Report

Perhaps Race “Memo” is more appropriate…

Summary- I had a good race, though I went out too fast and paid for it in the end. Wanted to do a 3:59:00, ended up with a 4:00:26. Oddly, this is very annoying to me.

Highlights – Seeing my kids at the finish line cheering, getting a good luck hug from Alison at the start, getting passed by a guy in a pink Speedo with “Awesome Dude” written across his backside, watching my sister-in-law tear it up as she passed me at Mile 10 (she qualified for Boston! Go Bekki!), and beating my ex-husband. By 20 minutes. Good times.

Lowlights- Miles 21-25.

This race is a really fun one, start in the front and you’ll have fewer people to navigate around – I was in Corral 5 and comfortable with that pace through the half) Great course entertainment, I was never alone on this course, not even to pee! I laughed a couple of times and wanted to cry a couple of times, but I pushed out a 7:30 mile at mile 26 to get as close to 4:00 as I could, and that I’m proud of.

Next goal – break 4:00!!
