On tan lines and pancakes

Written by Holly

It has gotten to the point in training where I am equally excited and relieved. This will end soon and the day will be here soon. I'm happy to have the race approaching (it is finally "next month", which is only days away!), and to finally be able to put all this training to use.I want to see what I'm capable of when the gun goes off and I know if I finish I don't have to do anything else for a very long while.

I am also looking forward to getting my weekends back - to be able to spend a morning sleeping in or making pancakes with the kids, or going for a run of undetermined distance and duration ... that sounds nice.

I will likely keep some habits that I have made while training, such as swimming in the morning sun and doing Core workouts on a regular basis. I doubt I'll ride my bike much, but I think we understand each other, my bike and I. Get me through this and we'll never do it again, I keep telling her. She seems to understand.

I will miss eating whatever I want, but I won't miss eating more than I want (as in on-the-bike nutrition). I will miss having a nicely tanned back, but not the silly lines that are all over my legs and arms from sleeves, bike shorts, etc.

So, 4 weeks, 4 days to Race Day. I'm almost ready :)
