Losing 5lbs the Hard Way

Written by Susan Degan

The good news is...I lost 5lbs! The bad news is it came by way of some very severe food poisoning.

Some friends from church, Scott and Holly, have been working on their house for a few years now and always say they can't have anyone over because of the disarray. Well, Sunday, they finally had us over. The meal was fabulous, the house charming and I left w/ a smile on my face. The next day I broke for lunch and sat down to the left overs Holly had sent home w/ me. Yum. Well, about an hour or so later I was huddled on the couch and asked Michael to run up to the store and get me a Coke. A few hours after that, I started on a 7 hour vomit fest that left me praying for it all to just end. In anyway shape or form.

Tuesday dawned and I felt as if I had been hit by a truck. Every muscle ached and I was so very very tired. My first physical therapy appointment was to be that day but I called the folks over at BodyCentral and they kindly cancelled it, but let me know they had to cancel all the subsequent ones as well for reasons I couldn't quite wrap my brain around.

The best part of Tuesday was Jeremy was coming to town. We had planned on going out and hitting the town but when he called at 5pm I was still huddled on the couch having only managed 1 cracker and some Ginger Ale for the entire day. His main concern was he didn't want to get sick if it was the stomach flu, which I understood. When I told him I had eaten at Scott and Holly's w/ Rob, through the peels of his laughter he said he would call Rob and see how he was feeling. A few minutes later he called back, "They poisoned you!!!" It seems Rob was not feeling too hot either.

This will go down, in my little circle of friends, as the never ending sourse of ribbing for Scott and Holly. Jeremy was happy beyond all reason that he was actually in town for this, that he will be able to rib Scott face to face. For me, I'm not sure how to feel. For one, I had food poisoning and I may never eat Greek food again. But, my skinny jeans fit. See the dilema?
