Improvement

Written by Holly

This week I took my aquathon swim time and squished it into a tiny ball of Ain’tHollyGoin’Slow (my, yes, she is!) and got ready to try a bit of HollyCanMove. I wanted to see if I could employ even a fraction of the wisdom (and occasionally wit, though it is usually sci-fi humor or a reference to a way old movie) Jeff has imparted. Um, yeah! I cut a full minute and a half off my swim time, flopping to the deck in 15:30.  This is only notable because I have been swimming 800 yards in 17 minutes for two years. I feel a tad dumb (why didn’t I learn to swim earlier?) and excited (could I really improve more? How much more?).

The weekends are difficult because I have to get up early enough to complete all my training by about 11:00 a.m. (there is an approximate 4- hour timer on my guilt clock – once the kids are up it kicks on). I spend Saturday very tired, but looking forward to Sunday. I really look forward to Mondays, because there is never anything heinous on those days (yet…).

So, Week 3 is almost complete and I’m still managing to sneak in my marathon training for the Alien Marathon in 4 weeks. I can’t wait to see the sci-fi nuts who would attend such an event!
